The PLW-03a lightning strike counter is used to record all direct lightning discharges in an external lightning protection system. It works by counting pulses of the electromagnetic field generated by the lightning discharge current flowing through the discharge cable of the lightning protection system. The PLW-03a counter records the date and time of the discharge and the estimated value of the lightning current amplitude. The counter is mounted on the discharge conductor of the lightning protection system, in a convenient place above the control connector, usually at a height of 1.5-2 m above the ground.
